From the 7th until the 9th of August, we hosted a first Asamblea de Herreros at the Foundry. A number of blacksmiths – both amateur and professional, from Spain and abroad – spent the weekend forging pieces for the bridge and talking about iron, history, and the future of the craft.
With this event, not only do we try to keep the craft of the blacksmith alive – we try to draw attention to the past of the Foundry itself, which was a so-called Ferrería from the 15th century until 1809 (more about that in a later post).
